Reviewers praise the diesel's torque, the trailering camera systems and the cab's comfort on upper trims, and note that the aluminum body of the 2017-on trucks saved enough weight to raise payload. Criticism is consistent across generations: an unloaded ride that is harsh because the springs are sized for weight the truck is not carrying, a turning circle that is difficult in towns, and pricing on King Ranch and Platinum trims that reaches luxury-car territory.

The Super Duty is one of the most profitable vehicle lines in the world and has led the US heavy-duty pickup market for decades. Resale on diesel four-wheel-drive crew cabs is exceptionally strong, to the point where used prices sometimes approach new. Reliability is good on the 6.7-liter Power Stroke from 2011 onward; the 6.0-liter diesel used from 2003 to 2007 is the generation to avoid, with head gasket and EGR failures well documented.
