Hankook was founded in Seoul in 1941 and is the largest Korean tire maker and one of the ten largest in the world. It has been original equipment on Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes and Tesla vehicles, and since 2017 it has built tires in Clarksville, Tennessee, a plant that has been expanded several times.
Hankook's pitch is straightforward: performance close to the premium brands at prices 20 to 30 percent lower. The Kinergy PT touring tire carries a 90,000-mile warranty, one of the longest in the industry, and the Kinergy 4S2 is a competent all-weather tire with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol. The Dynapro line covers trucks and SUVs, with the AT2 Xtreme being a well-reviewed all-terrain. The Ventus family serves performance drivers, and the iON range was one of the first full EV-specific lines from any brand.
Warranties are a real selling point: long mileage coverage and a 30-day satisfaction trial on most consumer tires. Honest weaknesses are that Hankook's wet grip on cheaper models trails Continental and Michelin, and tread life claims on the 90,000-mile tires are optimistic in real use. Still, for the money Hankook is one of the strongest mid-tier brands sold in the US.

Hankook Tire America Corp. runs its North American headquarters from Nashville, Tennessee, and the group's only US factory is in Clarksville, Tennessee, which opened in October 2017 and is being roughly doubled in a $1.6 billion project. Hankook has had a US sales operation since the early 1980s and supplies both original equipment to automakers and the replacement market. Tires are sold through independent dealers, national service chains and online retailers such as Tire Rack, alongside the Laufenn value brand.
Revenue, operating margin and employee count are group (consolidated) figures for Hankook Tire & Technology's fiscal 2025 and therefore include the Hanon Systems thermal-management business consolidated into the group: tire-segment sales alone were KRW 10,318.6 billion with KRW 1,684.3 billion operating profit (a 16.3% tire-segment margin), against group revenue of KRW 21,202.2 billion and group operating profit of KRW 1,842.5 billion. KRW converted at 1,450 KRW/USD (a rate consistent with 2025 trade-press conversions). Employee count is the company's rounded 'about 21,000 worldwide' figure, not an audited headcount. Production of 97 million tires/year is Hankook's own stated annual output (company capacity is quoted at about 100 million). Rank and market share come from the Tire Business / European Rubber Journal Global Tire Report 2025, which ranks fiscal 2024 tire-only sales (Hankook $6,844.8 million); market share is that figure as a percentage of the $180.2 billion aggregate tire sales of the Top 75 in the same table.
