About the Chevrolet Blazer
The Blazer name covers two completely different vehicles on this site: the body-on-frame S-10 Blazer sold through 2005, and the 2019-onward mid-size crossover, now joined by the electric Blazer EV. They share nothing mechanically, and their tire sizes could not be further apart, from a 15-inch light-truck tire to a 21-inch low-profile fitment. Check which one you have before you shop.
Launched in 1969. Launched in 1969 as the K5 Blazer, the name originally belonged to a full-size, short-wheelbase Chevrolet truck built to take on the Ford Bronco, and it was revived in 2019 for a front-drive-based crossover with no off-road pretensions.

1995-2005
Second-generation S-10 Blazer
A compact body-on-frame SUV sold as a two-door or four-door with a separate ladder frame, rear-wheel or part-time four-wheel drive and the 4.3-liter Vortec V6. It is the boxy one with a low horizontal grille bar and the Chevrolet bowtie in the center, and it rides on 15-inch wheels with 235/75R15 tires. Nothing about it resembles the current Blazer.

2019-2024
Crossover Blazer
Introduced in Atlanta in June 2018, this is a unibody mid-size crossover with Camaro-inspired styling: narrow upper daytime running lights, a large lower grille and round quad exhaust outlets on the RS. L, LT and 2LT trims run 18-inch wheels on 235/65R18, while the RS and Premier step up to 20s and 21s, with 265/45R21 on the biggest wheel. No third row is offered.

Blazer EV
Revealed on July 18, 2022 and built on GM's Ultium platform, the Blazer EV looks similar to the gasoline car but has a closed-off front where the grille would be, a flush lower fascia and a different tailgate treatment. It is substantially heavier than the gas Blazer and the RS runs 275/45R21 tires, the widest fitment ever put on a Blazer.

What the press said
The 2019 crossover Blazer got a lukewarm reception. Reviewers liked the styling and the rear-seat space and criticized the plain interior, the fuel economy and a feature list that did not match the price, with several noting that the name promised something the vehicle did not deliver. The Blazer EV was praised for range and interior space but had a very difficult launch, with GM halting sales in late 2023 over software problems before resuming with revised versions and lower prices. The old S-10 Blazer is remembered as durable but crude.
While spacious and reasonably agile, the Blazer's value proposition trails that of its rivals.

The gasoline Blazer peaked at 94,599 US sales in 2020 and fell to 46,531 in 2025; the Blazer EV separately sold 482 units in 2023, 23,115 in 2024 and 22,637 in 2025.
Was it a success?
The crossover Blazer has been a moderate success, selling between roughly 47,000 and 95,000 a year without ever becoming a segment leader, and the Blazer EV found its footing in 2024 after a bad first year. Resale is average to soft, and the EV has depreciated fast because of the price cuts that followed its launch. Reliability reputation is mid-pack for the gas car; the EV's early software problems still colour its reputation even though most were fixed by over-the-air update.

Tire options on the Chevrolet Blazer
Three very different worlds here. The S-10 Blazer runs 235/75R15, a tall light-truck size with plenty of all-terrain and studdable winter options and a full-size spare. The gasoline crossover Blazer uses 235/65R18 on L and LT, 265/45R21 on RS and Premier, with 20-inch fitments in between; all square, none run-flat, with a compact spare under the cargo floor. The Blazer EV is the one that needs care: it is several hundred pounds heavier than the gasoline car, the RS runs 275/45R21, and the factory tires are low-rolling-resistance constructions chosen to protect the range figure, so a conventional replacement in the same size will usually cost you a few percent of range and will wear faster under electric torque. Nothing on any Blazer is staggered, so rotation is possible on all of them. Winter options are excellent in 235/65R18 and 235/75R15 and genuinely thin in 265/45R21 and 275/45R21, which is why a smaller winter wheel and tire package is the standard advice for RS and Premier owners.
